About the Opportunity

Schmidt Electric is seeking a full-time Building Information Modeling (BIM) / Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Coordinator to join their team in Austin, Texas. For the right candidate working in their Houston, Texas office is an option.

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing prints, in order to determine the materials required, and ensure accuracy
  • Reviewing lighting prints and submittals to create lighting models
  • Determining the conduit routing to ensure the shortest and easiest path is designed and follows project specifications and requirements
  • Drawing electrical conduits in Revit or CAD, while ensuring they do not interfere with other building systems
  • Resolving conflicts and project obstacles 
  • Liaising with clients to ensure that projects are on track, and to address issues as they occur
  • Producing and revising drawings for design and construction as required
  • Coordinating with foreman or superintendents through design, including routing, supports, and layout
  • Becoming knowledgeable about the National Electrical Code and local codes

About You

To qualify, you must have a high school diploma (or equivalent GED), along with 2+ years experience in designing and drafting for electrical projects

Ideally, to succeed in this role, you must have the following skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend construction blueprints, submittals, and project specifications
  • Experience working with Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Autodesk NavisWorks, Microsoft Office, and online meeting software 
  • Demonstrated track record of working on multiple projects concurrently
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks accurately, while meeting project timelines

Knowledge of the following would be considered an asset:

  • eVolve
  • Bluebeam
  • National Electrical Code
